5 Awesome Things About God

Do you know just how awesome God is? You’re probably thinking, “of course I do.” But if you ever need a reminder, here are 5 awesome things about God for you to refer back to whenever you’re feeling doubtful, sad, discouraged, or even if you just need a quick pick-me-up!

1. He loves you, no matter what.

As we all know, the incredible depth and breadth of God’s love for us was shown when God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins (John 3:16, ESV). But here are three other verses that talk about God’s love for you:

  • “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
  • For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
  • “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

2. He is powerful!

Sometimes the enemy wants you to feel like you’re weak and that you’re fighting by yourself. But I’ve come to assure you that the God you serve is powerful beyond measure! How do I know this? It’s in the Word! Just think- the God that you serve is the very maker of Heaven and Earth. There’s nothing that He can’t do! And when you realize that the Almighty God lives on the inside of you, you will realize that you can overcome anything that the enemy throws your way. You should have an assurance within you that comes from being confident that your God cannot fail.

  • “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Psalm 118:6)
  • “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
  • “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:14)

3. He’s forgiving!

Have you ever felt like your mistakes are so vast that you couldn’t get past them? Like what you’ve done is so horrible that you could never be pardoned? Well, those are just lies that the devil wants Christians to believe. He wants you to think that it’s over for you so that you’ll just give up now and never obtain all that God has promised you. But these verses prove that God hasn’t given up on you and He’s always waiting with open arms for you to get back in right standing with Him.

  • “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” (Psalm 103:8)
  • “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
  • ““Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18)
  • “As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)

4. He is with  you and He will help you.

When we try to make decisions and do things on our own, it almost always end up in a huge mess. But with God, success is certain. When we trust God to help us instead of in our own strength, we become capable of doing amazing, seemingly impossible things. We’re only human and we are limited, but God is not.

  • “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
  • “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
  • “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

5. He’s God.

Yes, God is awesome because He’s God, all by himself. You don’t have to live defeated, worried, afraid, confused, alone, sad, or in any other deplorable position that comes from Satan. God is on your side! To know Him is to love Him.

  • “But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
  • For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.” (Psalm 86:10)
  • “To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Timothy 1:17)
  • Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. (Isaiah 40:28)
